Of course, it is made by an individual, so he can tell us about a specific field, but most of the time, he posts socially important news. When you click on an article, you can see the source of the article .It shows the most neutral of the same subject articles.

    2. Shortly after Trump was elected, Trump said he would sue the New York Times because the New York Times used jocose picture of his face in the article. I listened to this story and looked for any politically biased articles written by the New York Times, but it was hard to find. it 's not evidence based or emotional based, it contain all the facts or speculation I think.

    5. CNN News has been criticized since the 2017 presidential election, saying it is the pro-Clinton tendency. I have spent a lot of time in the news for criticizing Trump. FOX News criticized both candidates.

    6. Yes. United Air has been a discriminatory act in the past. If you look at this picture, you will not want to ride United Air.

http://www.focus.kr/view.php?key=2017041100083015813 ← This picture is mockery by United Air about the airplane crash of Asiana Airline as Halloween costume. It must be criticized, too. But the topic is racism and this picture is not. It is just mockery.

    3. In particular, in the case of CNN, Trump is tilted toward blame and against. In the case of FOX news, we are very inclined to support Trump. So Trump did not want to talk to CNN reporters, there were several reports that did not answer their questions.
The press is a mirror of society. But It is not easy to see facts as they are and see them objectively. It is in fact subjective to argue that you see it objectively. The idea of objectivity itself is subjective. It is natural for the press to have a criticism function that accuses social corruption and the domination and arrogance of power. But the media itself should not be arrogant and domineering. It should not mislead public opinion.

I think this case is not just racism, it is a result of the legally outlawed behavior of United Airlines. I think it would be good to read my comments and comments below. I wonder what you think.

    topic 1

recnetly i'm never trust media news because media is rotten. so i get only articles title in media news. and I find the truth on my own. Therefore, the medium to get news mainly is the internet 'naver'.
Naver News is relatively conservative. On the other hand, the news that has a strong tendency to progress is Daum News. Internet News is a place to collect articles from each press without covering them separately. This means that naver and daum, as well as almost all Internet portals.
Currently, Naver is the largest shareholder with 'the National Pension', and his former CEO, Yi hae-jin, replaced his position with Han Sung-sook in March of this year. Although CEOs have changed and time has not flowed so much, her tendency is unknown, but now Naver is on the side of the president.

    3. I don't understand why media is rotten.
Can you offer other reason such as connection between media and specific party or politcian?
I think media especially newspaper press, news broadcast have its faction.
All media support only one particular faction can be a problem.
But every media have its faction. It gurantees diversity of politics.
People can think the political issue by comparing media news that have different faction.

      Delete
    4. Maybe you used 'rotten' because of the corruption of the media such as bribe to media. But there is case that corruption of media is notified and punished. So all medias are not rotten. And you said naver news but Naver news is just category and collection of some news like KBS, Yeonhab, TV Chosun, etc. So you have to say which concrete news you get information. Also your url address is about direction of business of Naver not the political position.

topic1's question was ' Where do you get the majority of your news?'. for that question's my answer was that i never trust any articles. but i reference 'naver' articles's title. therefore i answered 'naver'. that sentence was confused. so i'm sorry taht.

If we expand our vision we can see 'THAAD' problem outside of Korea.

Do you mean Naver is on the current president's side? He's liberal, not conservative. If you insisted Naver had conservative political viewpoint, isn't Naver being on the current president's side contradictory?

[News about An Incident of United Airlines involving an Asian man being dragged out the esat of th airplane]
ABC News focused on situation and focusing the asian passenger’s behavior. ABC News told a reason that the asian passenger could not take off the plane. And ABC New using a utterance of manager of United Airlines According to the ABC News "He was kind of saying that he was being singled out because he's a Chinese man" when speaking to the manager, Mr Bridges said. ABC News focus on situation about incident of United Airlines for quotation of United Airline manager. However ABC News only used the quotation of United Airline. ABC News should have used the quotation of a passenger who dragged out or other passengers as witness.
CNN also focus on situation. But CNN didn’t tell about racism. CNN News said that airlines spokesman mention. "Involuntary de-boarding situation," airlines spokesman Charlie Hobart. United weighs a number of factors to determine which passengers would leave the flight, such as connecting flights and how long the delay will leave the customer at an airport, Hobart said. CNN also cite spokesman of United Airlines.

Joong Ang News that a Korean news told that “Airline suggested for giving up someone’s seat but nobody volunteered0. Airline crew said ”United Airlines offered 400 dollars and the 800doollars in vouchers and a hotel stay for volunteers to give up their seats.“ but nobody gave up. As a result airlines select randomly 4 passengers.
YTN(Korean New Broadcast) Broadcasted the incident of United Airlines. YTN focus on response of United Airlines to passenger who dragged off. YTN told the asian passenger’s damage. Futhermore YTN news headline is “A Passenger is a Vietnam descent doctor”. It is intent to emphasis on racism.

American news told about situation in detail. They talked of indication of United Airlines and crew. Besides they talked of passenger’s damage. American news told the context of incident of United Airlines. Later, they have told about that ‘Overbooking is legal or illegal.’ Futhermore they pressed the news about passengers compliant of United Airlines. They talked about United Airlines’ services.
Korean news also told about situation in detail. However they focused on response of United Airline to customer who dragged off. Later Korean news focus on passenger who an Asian person dragged off as an act racism. Korean News told about response of Asian people especially Chinese because Chinese is the most using passenger of United Airlines.

In my opinion this incident was not an act of racism because of United Airlines’s act. United Airlines manager announced passengers would be chosen at random. I focus at the word “random”. It tell to no intent of act as racism. So the Asian passenger was chosen as not an asian but just passenger of bad luck.
However United Airlines’ violence was unacceptable. They had to persuade him. Any violent act can’t be a solution.
In conclusion, the incident of United Airlines is not an act of racism but an act of violent and low quality of passenger service.

    1. I read it very carefully because it is a theme similar to mys. I also saw YTN news related to United Airlines. But I could not hear about racial discrimination. If you do not mind, can you upload the link?
And I totally agree with your opinion. Especially, as you said, this airline 's choice of a customer' s place at random was a computerized way. So I do not think it's good to associate it with racism.
But what should be noted is why this happened. In the case of conventional over-booking, the customer's place is duplicated. But this time it's a place for crews. What do you think?

      Delete
    2. I also think we can not sure that this is the case of racism . But as you said, their violence can not be justified.
I found that South West Airways abolished the overbooking system on May 27. So I I look forward to seeing other airlines also abolish the system.

First, when my parents subscribed newspaer JoongAngIlbo, I used to see JoongAngIlbo and get the information from it. After my parents stopped subscribing the news paper, when sinking of MV Sewol happened, I knew JTBC news and watched the JTBC news about sinking of MV Sewol. In case of terrestrial broadcasting news such as KBS, SBS, MBC, the reporters reported sinking of MV Sewol. On the other hand, in case of JTBC, Son Seok-hee, boss of press, current affairs and liberal arts of JTBC, directly reported the news in Paeng-mok harbor, Jindo. I felt impressed that the boss directly reported the news outside the studio. So I started to see the news of JTBC and get the information from it. I like Son Seok-hee’s reliability and faithfulness so I watch the news of JTBC.

JTBC is transmissible channel related to JoongAngIlbo, But it is so interesting that political position of JTBC and JoongAngIlbo is different. JoongAngIlbo is conservative but JTBC holds the moderate position. And it is also interesting that Hong Jeong-do, CEO of JoongAngIlbo, is radical. Originally, JoongAngIlbo was reactionary because Hong Seok-hyun, former CEO and Hong Jeong-do’s father, was reactionary, too. But Hong Jeong-do hold the radical position and it afftects articles of JoongAngIlbo. So JoongAngIlbo changes from reactionary position to conservative position and the articles of JoongAngIlbo is less reactionary than other reactionary newspaper, ChoSunIlbo or DongAIlbo. It is just my idea that the political position of JoongAngIlbo and Hong Jeong-do is different so Hong Jeong-do scouts Son Seok-hee who is moderate.

Son Seok-hee says that he always stands in the moderate position and he just announce the fact about the situation to people. Although Son Seok-hee is moderate, JTBC sometimes reports liberal news. That is because JoongAngIlbo is conservative so Son Seok-hee sometimes reports liberal news for balance of political position. But Son Seok-hee generally holds the moderate position and he focuses on the fact. And there is opinion that JoongAngIlbo is not neutral about some issue, too. For example, Lee Byeong-chul, the first CEO of Samsung is also founder of JoongAngIlbo and Hong Seok-hyun is the fomer CEO of Samsung, Lee Gun-hee’s brother in law. So JoongAngIlbo sometimes didn’t report the article of bad issue of Samsung. But JTBC criticised Samsung like report of Lee Gun-hee’s prostitution.

http://m.entertain.naver.com/read?oid=047&aid=0002033313 : This is Son Seok-hee’s interview when he first came to JTBC. It is better for everyone to read this interview.

In last month, the president Moon Jae-in ordered inspection of 4 major rivers project of the former president Lee Myeong-Bak. Lee Myeong-bak was reactionary president. So we can find that some news and articles are different depending on the political position.
    http://news.jtbc.joins.com/article/article.aspx?news_id=NB11472542
JTBC is moderate position so it just announes the fact about Lee Myeong-bak’s saying. JTBC is not biased against reactionary or radical position.
    http://news.khan.co.kr/kh_news/khan_art_view.html?artid=201705230830001&code=940100
    http://www.ohmynews.com/NWS_Web/Tenman/report_last.aspx?CNTN_CD=A0002331280
These news are Kyunghyang Shinmun and Ohmynews. They are radical so they report the news about inspection of 4 major rivers and also criticize Lee Myeong-bak.
    http://news.joins.com/article/21597044
    http://news.donga.com/3/all/20170522/84500542/2
These news are JoongAngIlbo and DongAIlbo. As mentioned above, they are conservative or reactionary so they just report the news and they don’t criticize Lee Myeong-bak at all.

Like this example, the political position affects the news. If we see only one news, we find the fact but we can’t find everyone’s opinion. It is important to share everyone’s opinion and discuss so we have to see much news in various political position. And we know to choose the information that we want to see. Thanks for reading my opinion!

    1. Your post is good. Can I add your opinion?
Son Seok-hee required the separation of broadcast from CEO, company.
And CEO promised Son Seok-hee's demand. Therefore JTBC News guarantee moderate news.
However other broadcast can't seperate company's policy.

Even when I worked as press in Gachon University, I could not write the bad things about college. What I wrote had to be confirmed by professor who works for college, so I just wrote the event of college or getting prize. Press really need to be clean...

You’re right. Son Seok-hee thinks JTBC is just press not about company and he sticks to his belief. It is different and special point from other broadcasting stations.

You may be hard to announe only good things about college. The press is sometimes censored but because of this censor, the reporters can not announce the information that they want.

Hi, I'm hoon that is my class nickname.

I looked up on the sixth topic.

I have seen Korean YTN (public enterprise), SBS (private enterprise), JTBC (private enterprise) news, American ABC, CNN news.

I only watched videos uploaded on the same date to see how the news explains the incident.

Commonly, News tell viewers "how the passengers were hurt," "why the passengers were involved," "why the aircraft was not available," "how the passengers were dropped from the aircraft," " Why the formal apology written by the CEO became a problem ", and so on.

Simply, The airline needed 4 seats. the United airlines randomly selected 4 seats and let the passengers down.

The problem is that one of the selected passengers is a doctor. The doctor refused to leave the plane because the patient was waiting for him. However, the airline forced him down from the plane.

    In detail,
These four seats were for the flight crew.
I thought this part was a big problem. The number of crew members required for an aircraft to depart is specified by law. That part mentioned the ABC news about 'crew transportation problem'.(clip 1:10)
Therefore, the number of these crews is a fixed number. It should not be calculated as an object of over-booking. But United Airlines has broken it.

Now, the difference of each news is as follows.

    1. ABC News and YTN News refer to the victim as a passenger, but SBS News also mentions that the victim was an Asian doctor and that it was racially discriminated against(SBS clip 12sec). Why racism was not mentioned. Only the injured passengers were Asian doctors. I understood in this part that the passengers were Asian men, so they dragged passengers more violently.

    2. The JTBC News mentioned to boycotts and punitive damages, but the section on racial discrimination was not mentioned.

Unfortunately, I did not fully understand ABC News and CNN News, so I could not make a conclusion about the content.
In the case of JTBC News (clip 1:25) and YTN News (clip 1:06), I mentioned overbooking problem. In particular, JTBC news seems to be centered around law and money.

SBS News (clip 1:28) noted the recent controversy over sex discrimination that United Airlines refused to board a woman wearing leggings.

In other words, I think that YTN News is a public corporation, so the contents of the news are mainly explained by events, and JTBC and SBS are private companies, so I think they have reached the other side. JTBC news was more important to law and money, and SBS was more important to racial discrimination.

The sixth theme was mentioned about racial discrimination. However, there were few news items that emphasized racial discrimination. SBS News only mentions racial discrimination. I wanted to say this, so I compared the various news above.
Rather, I think this case should pay attention to the over-booking system.
Typical overbooking occur because customer seats are assigned as duplicates. But this overbooking took place for the flight attendant.
I think we should think about Incorrect Administration of United Airlines rather than racism.

    Hi im hangmin
i like to share you guys news about improper relation between Trump's election and Russian federation
I mostly watch news in Naver which is one of the most popular news in Korea. And it says that James Comey, who was the director of FBI (now dismissed) found improper contact in Michael flynn, who was the national security advisor in USA and Russia. So he started to investigate this situation, however Donald Trump fired James Comey who offically formulated investigation. USA government said that Donald Trump some kind of forced him to stop investigaion by firing him so they assigned Michael Comey the special inspection.
The point of news is , is it Russain's own help? or Is there something between Trump and Russia.
I decided to search this news in various news companies like 연합뉴스(Yonhap News Agency) and Fox news which are korean and American public brodcasting company. i just wanted to see how they think of this situation because they belong to differernt countries.
I think 연합뉴스 Tends to support James Comey http://www.yonhapnews.co.kr/international/2017/06/09/0601080000AKR20170609001700071.HTML?template=2085
you can click and see this.
However Fox news which tends to be more conservative in US Shows a little difference Headlines saying : but stooped short of obstructin charge. I think if fOX was not a conservative brodcastiong company, it would not have said 'But'.
Although 연합뉴스 tends to say Trump has done very wrong, Fox , i think they try to leave something behind.
These are my opinion on hot issue right now how do you guys think??

You might think that Fox is more conservative than Younhap. But the main differnce betwween those two campanies is the nation which company is included. Younhap do not have to care about U,S,A beacuse its Korean company. So it does not have to be good at America issue. Fox is different. They have to care about what their government want.

Hi, I'm 김영빈 and my class name is Vincent. I had a research on topic 7, experiment on internet search engines and search result based on the beliefs of the owner.
First, I found out that the owner of Google is now Sundar pichai, who is an Indian American. Although it is hard to tell his exact political beliefs, he seems to be quite liberal. (Article about Pichai being concerned about Trump's immigration order - http://www.cnbc.com/2017/01/28/google-chief-sundar-pichai-chides-trump-over-immigration-order-affecting-nearly-200-staffers.html), (Article about Pichai's opinion abouth the presidential election - http://www.businessinsider.com/google-ceo-sundar-pichai-says-the-us-election-was-2016-11), (Pichai's twitter about Trump's decision to quit Paris Climate Agreement)
As Pichai being liberal, He would have voted Hilary for the last presidential election. To find out relationship between is political beliefs and the search results of Google, I typed 'Trump impeachment' and the first thing that came on the list was: 'Hoping for Trump Impeachment? Think again', an opinion saying 'Congress needs to work with the president to do what's best for America while special counsel investigates.' about the recent James Comey testimony. The following website was a site to genuinely impeach Trump - 'Impeach Trump now'. The other links provided news about the democrat blaming Trump, and so on. Some of the links were telling people to think twice or 'It would(should) not happen', but the majority, more than about 60% of the links had something positive about Trump's impeachment.
I searched the same at Bing and Yahoo, and this is waht I found out: http://imgur.com/a/DoidR
The three search engines seem to have the similar result. All three search engines have a separate website supporting Trump's impeachment and asking people to join them, and news about liberal's movement for the impeachment. Yahoo's news link to the Time, 'Trump Impeachment: Why it would be hard to do' seems to be the most fact-looking opinion about the current situation, making it 'least liberal' web search engine.
I think The Internet is now occupied to the liberals so that the opposing voice for impeachment is not loud enough. Bing is owned by Microsoft and it is owned by Satya Nadella, who is also an Indian American.(He also had opposing opinion about Trump's immigration order) Yahoo is owned by Marissa Mayer, but no article discussing her political affiliation was not found, so I cannot tell whether she is liberal or conservative. My conclusion on taking a look at three major search engine was that they have little difference. They had mostly liberal opinions and news supporting liberals. So I decided to search for minor search engines that are free from political issues and CEO's opinion to see the truth. Will they show the same result?
First, I went to Yippy and Duckduckgo, and this is what I found out: http://imgur.com/a/BFCJ2.
They had slightly different search results, showing a little more diverse result, but I didn't think it was enough. So I went to Goodgopher.com, which is a rising search engine that does not sort the information out. (http://imgur.com/a/fsiPf) They had many results showing different viewpoint from all other search engines.
By my experiment, my conclusion is that the Internet's mainstream search engines are quite manipulated and doesn't show the fair search result, whether it is their owner's beliefs of npt. The smaller, minor search engines had independent political viewpoint and had more variety of fact-based opinions. Even though this experiment has teached me that the information can be filtered, I don't think major search engines are useless. Using the new search engines would make my sights wider, but I don't think they are all reliable information, too. I think having my own political critera is more important. Is this news about fact? If it is true, what can I do to support it or not? If I had a right eye to see through the news and have a right criteria, I won't be manipulated by the fake, filtered news.

Having read about 병진's posting, I think by far JTBC is the most neutral (It is liberal but 'most' neutral) broadcasting station.

i have same opinions as yours. what is important is what you think and what you decide !

Hi, I'm 이희연 and my class name is Kaylie. I chose the sixth topic, about United Air incident. "Racism" is the belief that people of some races are inferior to others, and the behaviour which is the result of this belief. To put forth the conclusion first, I can not sure that this is the case of racism by only seeing these given informations. But including the previous cases which the United Air committed, we might treat this incident "racial discrimination".
Seeing 'Fox News', 'CNBC' and 'USAtoday', they posted only about 'a man' who forcibly dragged off plane after refusing to give up seat to United employee but not about the rest of 3 people who were chosen. I can not find the references about those 3 people's nation.
In the same way, I looked for Korean news like 'Green Daily', 'Moneys' and 'Financial News'. They mentioned 'Among three out of four were Asian, who were randomly selected to leave'. But there is no evidence to support it.
Even though the news do not have enough information about the rest 3 passengers, why this case be so hot? Why did '#BoycottUnited' be on Twitter's real-time trend? It was because of their previous cases as follows.

On May 31, 2015, a Muslim cleric, tahera Ahmed, who addressed the issue of religion at Northwestern University, suffered from the racial discrimination because she dressed a hijab on a United Airlines flight from Manchester United to Washington DC. Ahmed asked the crew for a new unopened Coke, but the crew refused and said that any tin can can be used as a weapon, even if he had given another white man an unopened beer can.

Also last March, two teenage girls dressed in leggings were denied to entry because the leggings was not the 'custom-made'. The United Airlines explained that they have the right to refuse to accept passengers who are improperly dressed. It became hot issue because the standards of ' decent clothes' are ambiguous and the fact that only women have been censored.

Such as these events, the United Air already have biased people against them. Even the controversy has been eliminated due to good compensation and the abolition of the system, they have to be careful not to happen such a case again.

    1. I read your article well. I read it carefully because it was written on the same topic. I first got the information that the 3 - digit owner of the 4 - digit chosen by the airline was Asian. I did not mention it in the news I saw. So I honestly doubt that this is a matter of racial discrimination. So I totally agree with your first opinion. I think your argument is that this case is racial discrimination because of the case of United Airlines in the past, right?

Your essay reminds me a question,'Is their any real fact in the world'. I mean it seems like many opinions in press these days, and even if we see same happening , we remeber it different. For this, we need to upgrade our mind that criticize and see fair.

If United Airlines did not have that act you said above about muslim guy and teenagers worn leggings, i think they would not have been treated that they commited racism on the plane .
Is this possible to say , this sort of news comes because of what they did back in days?

I don’t know identification of 3 other passenger and you remind me this. And I wonder why this information is not enough and they are really Asian. If there was previous case of United Air, 3 other passenger can be known by media. Is it because are they just passengers without any resist? And is it also influenced by Unites Air or the other media?

Unless there was a past history of United Airlines, this case would have been mentioned only as a violent incident.

Nice posting. I never knew the United Airlines had bias to their passengers, although the recent 'Asian man dragged off' incident doesn't show any evidence of racism.

In these days there are lots of information around us. So we can get information very easily from anywhere. Some people look the internet article but most of people(especially old people in Korea) still watch television news. Many people prefer to watch news, because of its comfortable feature. We only have to watch the news in specific time, and anchors are saying new topic(most of them are bad news). It is the easiest way to get information, you just need TV or mobile phone and have time.

I’m going to talk about the difference way of reporting news in three Korean broadcasting station : KBS, MBC and SBS. These broadcastsing stations are major, so their news is influential. Each of them has their own representative title : KBS has ‘KBS NEWS 9’, MBC has ‘MBC NEWSDESK’(which starts at 8:00 p.m), and SBS has ‘SBS NEWS 8’.

It seems like we only have to choose one broadcasting news, but actually, there are difference in each broadcasting news style. To know the difference, we have to see the feature of broadcasting establishment and know how broadcasting station choose their manager.
There was a kyungsung broadcasting station which is the start of KBS, in 1947. It was established by Korean government. MBC and SBS are both private broadcast.

There are another diffence in 3 broadcast station: Ruler. KBS is made by nation, so government select the boss. MBC is a commercial private broadcasting station, but the committee which is in government power participate 70% selecting the boss. This mean those two broadcasting stations are familiar with government. SBS select their boss by own.

The news from each broadcasting station are little bit different. They can express their news in different way. For example, last October their were resistances who wants to know the truth about bribe between ex-president and choi-soon-sil, candles on their hands. The importance of news were different. SBS shows 34 news about this happens in one day, but kbs and mbc show very little news per day. And even MBC news showed un-real that had no evidence about ipad that is realted to bribery. Also KBS showed their own opinion that ex-president will not be impeached.

The cause of this happened is government participate in press. Govenment do power choosing the boss of station, so the way that broadcasting gave news follows the way that government want to. President Moon criticized this happening that press must be real but press in Korea does not. So he plans that he will change the boss who is doing right now, and the structure of choosing the boss of broadcasting station.

It is interesting to compare 3 major broadcasting stations with serveral expample. And almost all people watch these 3 major broadcasting stations, KBS, SBS, MBC, than other broadcasting stations. They are influenced by government in different way so people are also influenced by government. As you replied my comment, the press is hard to be perfectly clear so people can’t find all information that they want. So people must know these broadcasting stations are different and get each information from them. Thanks for writing your opinion!
